Then August of last year, I decided to train for my sixth marathon. It had been six years since my previous race and I was unsure my body could handle the rigorous training schedule considering my extensive work travel. I decided to enlist Todd Beatie's help. He suggested one weekly personal training session in addition to my bootcamp classes.
I have to admit, I was skeptical when he said I could train for the 26.2 miles with doing only three weekly training runs. But I gave it a shot! After a small injury setback, traveling almost every week for four months, and a serious head cold the week of the race, I did it! Finished the Honolulu Marathon with a respectable time of 4:13. It wasn't my best time ever, but with my challenging lifestyle it was fantastic! And to clearly illustrate the success of his training, I went on an six mile hike two days after the race. That never would have been possible with all the post-race soreness prior to working with Todd.
